If there is a war the Assassin's and Templars is always going to be a part of it. Why? The Templars want controll and power. To gett controll the Templars have always been a part of chaos/wars. Where does the Assassin's fit in to this? The Assassin's fight for free will and free will is the Opisate(bad English) of controll and power.
