There's a difference friend: The overused of the Starwars songs are acceptable because most of them aren't focus in a specific character, but in certain scenes and battle concepts. Of course there's some exceptions: "The Imperial March" (Darth Vader's theme), but this song is used only when Vader makes an appearance or when Sith soldiers are destroying his enemy and winning, if I'm not mistaken. That's okay, there're concepts that have in common.
Ezio's Family was created as a "casual song". Jesper only made it as a reference of the renaissance and keep it in his files just in case. When Ubi confirmed the character of Ezio to him, he used it. (This info can be confirmed in the "Assassins Den" podcast). And if I'm not wrong, Ezio's Family is only heard four times in the whole series: Intro of AC2, intro of ACBr, credits of AC2 and credits of ACBr. (Variations like Venice Rooftops or Earth/Heart [the original one] don't count) And that's all. Concept of Family (father, mother, siblings): Check, Ezio: Check. That's why the use of it is so wrong in other titles. What does it have to do with Egypt? Or with a Syndicate of Crime? Or with the French Revolution? Or with the purge of the colonial assassins?
Personally, I say it's overrated.
