This family line is mostly speculation. Subject 16 and Desmond don't have to be that far related. 16 could be Ezio's father, brother, cousin. Perhaps Ezio was the first link between them, who was actually a master assassin, which may be why he was chosen to be used in the Animus. Ezio wasn't an only child neither. Federico, Petruccio and Claudia are his siblings. Maria's last name isn't known. This has no point. The article that this picture is used on has no point neither.
