Ezio, my friend! How may I be of service?

This article is in desperate need of a revamp. Please improve it in any way necessary in order for it to achieve a higher standard of quality in accordance with our Manual of Style.

The Memory Corridor was a digital construct that allowed the Animus to recreate accurate images from a subject's genetic memory. It appeared to be an empty virtual space located within Animi.

Usage

The corridor was mainly used as a waiting room between memories, where the Assassin had the possibility to run around as a memory was being accessed.[1][2]

Additionally, in it, dying assassination targets shared their last words with the Assassin who had killed them; most likely to place an emphasis on their final moments.[1][2]

It was also used as a location for a tutorial for Desmond Miles' first use of the Animus,[1] and later, as an interface for Rebecca Crane's Animus Virtual Training Program.[3]

Appearance

The corridor had different backgrounds according to the version of Animus being used.

Animus 1.0

The Abstergo Industries Animus 1.28 originally had an icy-blue background with fog and various computer code.[1]

Animi Training Stage 1

Animi Training Stage 2

Animi Training Stage 3

Portable Animi

Animus 2.0

The Animus 2.03's background was light gray with white lines, also known as the White Room.

Repressed memories

Present in the Cristina Memories, a ghost-like Ezio Auditore chased another ghost-like figure – Cristina Vespucci – through a dark, red-hued corridor with floating binary codes.

Traumatic memories

The third variation of the corridor in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood was orange - which occurred after the death of Cesare Borgia, when Ezio threw him off the castle wall.

Safe mode

The safe mode program built into the Animus, known as the Black Room, had a varying dark and bright blue background with black lines, the opposite of the appearance of Animus 2.03 in normal condition.[2]

Trivia

  • No matter what position or method the assassination target was killed in, or how far away the Assassin was from the target, upon entering the corridor, the Assassin would always be right next to the target.
  • The corridor was also used in two failed and two spared assassinations. These included Maria Thorpe, Rodrigo Borgia, Micheletto Corella, and Shahkulu .
  • In Assassin's Creed, during a sufficiently long loading period, it was possible for Altaïr to run far enough that glitches and other symbols surrounding him were left behind.
  • In Assassin's Creed, glitches appeared frequently in the corridor, prompting Desmond to change the angle of the scene, and allowing the target to walk around as they spoke, appearing uninjured.
  • In Assassin's Creed II, Dante Moro and Silvio Barbarigo appeared in the memory corridor together, even if they were killed separately.
  • In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, when the Templar agents were killed and enter the corridor, they did not speak. Ezio Auditore simply said "Requiescat in pace," before closing their eyes and walking away.
  • In Assassin's Creed, Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood and Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Altaïr and Ezio could use their sword, short blade, throwing knives and hidden blade in the corridor. However, in Assassin's Creed II, Ezio could use only his fists.
  • All weapons used in the corridor did not emit sound.
  • There was a glitch in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood whereas Ezio may switch between a single hidden blade or both in the corridor even if he had already purchased it from Leonardo.
  • In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood it was possible to run out of ammunition if Ezio used the Hidden Gun, Throwing Knives or the Crossbow, although the crossbow would take some time to reload, the corridor would have finished by the time he had used all of the crossbow bolts.
  • In Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, it was possible for Ezio to throw a heavy weapon. However, if there was enough time to run in the direction he threw it, it would appear on the ground some distance from where he threw the weapon. When the memory resumed, the thrown weapon would be back on Ezio's sheath.
