*The Thirty Tyrants
**03:21-03:55
***(Civ 1)Are you okay?
***(Civ 2)The Spartans raided Sophia's house last week and Kallias has disappeared completely.
***(Civ 1)Critias says the Spartans are here for our protection. To restore order after the war.
***(Civ 2)What nonsense! They are destroying this city, and Critias is to blame!
***(Civ 1)I'm sure he has our best interests at heart. He's an Athenian.[...]
**05:52-06:35
***(Theramenes)What is the matter here? [critias is having Bakchos hit Polemarchus]
***(Critias)Theramenes.
***(Th)Kassandra, this is Critias, the leader of the Thirty.
***(Cr)The new mercenary.
***(Th)Polemarchus?
***(Polemarchus)Help me, Theramenes. I1ve done nothing wrong.
***(cr)He's been smuggling weapons to Thrasybulus.
***(th)You have proof?
***(cr)We'll soon have the evidence we seek, and then-
***(Kass)This Thrasybulus. Who is he?
***(Th)A general of Athens. An old friend led astray by-
***(cr)A traitor and an enemy of this city who hides in exile while his supporters seek to undermine us.
***(Kass)Supporters like this Polemarchus.
***(Critias, addressing polemarchus)Well, where is it?
***(Hoplite)Where is it?
***(Po)I don't know what you're talking about.
***(Cr)Help this idiot, misthios. Find the evidence and bring it to me.
**07:15-08:30
***(Hoplite)I have it![producing a parcel from Polemarchus' cart]
***(Polemarchus)Put that back, don't open it
***(Hop)Drachmae from Boeotia.
***(Critias)Payment from Thrasybulus. Bakchos, kill this traitor.
***(Theramenes)Do not carry out that order![turning to Critias]Have you lost your mind?
***(Cr)He has conspired with our enemies.
***(Th)And we are here to govern, not to kill men in the streets!
***(Cr)[after a pause]Take him away.
***[Bakchos drags Polemarchus away]
***(Th)We owe him a fair trial, Critias.
***(Cr)We need action, Theramenes, not ideals.
***(Th)Then what do you suggest?
***(Cr)Polemarchus worked with a group of thieves, led by a man called the Nightjar. They helped smuggle his weapons to Thrasybulus.
***(th)So you say.
***(Kass)You wish me to deal with them?
***(th)It's true these thieves have caused us problems.
***(cr)One of my informants has tracked an accomplice of the Nightjar to a nearby gambling den [this is Achiakos] Go there, follow this accomplice back to the Nightjar's hideout, and rid us of this den of thieves.
***(Hop)I'm going to help Bakchos.[leaves, didn't even remember he was there]
***(cr)I may have stayed my hand this time, but do not go against-
**23:19-24:00
***[Bets against achiakos, loses first round and wins the second.]
***(Achiakos)You see? Tyche smiles on me as Ares smiled on Achilles.[loses, complains and leaves]
**24:33-24:56
***(Achiakos)This place is going to Hades.
***(Thief)Eh?
***(Achiakos)The kind of peopl here these days. The lowest of the low.
***(Thief)People like you, you mean?
***(Achiakos)People like that woman, gods curse her! The misthios!
***(Thief)We can't all be winners, Achiakos.
***(Achiakos)We'll see about that.
***(Kass)Achiakos sshould lead me to the thieves' hideout. From there, I can find the Nightjar.
**26:33-26:58
***(Thief)Achiakos, how did you fare at the kapeleion?
***(Achiakos)Don't ask.
***(Thief)No! You lost? Who?
***(Achiakos)Some misthios, new in the city. Don't worry, it's a minor upset.
***(Thief)Try telling that to the Nightjar. Wasn't it his money you lost?
***(Achiakos)Don't remind me. Oh, and do me a favor.
***(Thief)What's that?
***(Achiakos)You see this misthios, you kill her.
**29:02-29:24
***(Achiakos)A newcomer beat me in the kapeleion. Have you seen the Nightjar?
***(Thief)Just this morning. He's planning another shipment to Boeotia.
***(Achiakos)Thrasybulus' forces must be growing if he needs more weapons.
***(Thief)It would seem so. Which means more money for us.
***(Achiakos)In that case, perhaps the Nightjar could lend me a few obols?
***(Thief)Again? Don't push it, Achiakos.
**29:45-30:10
***(Achiakos, at a warehouse)Nothing here worth more than a obol or two. Perhaps Tyche has abandoned me for good. But I'll find a way. I'll find a way to get back in there. The Nightjar will help me. He needs me, he'll have to help. I'll be the king of the kapeleion again. Oh yes.
**37:34-37:44
***(note)"I will look over the items in the north warehouse tonight, before we send them to Boeotia. Ensure that I am not disturbed."
**38:37-38:55
***(Thief)The Nightjar is in the barn. But he asked not to be disturbed.
***(Achiakos)Hell make an exception for me.
***(Thief)So you can tell him you lost your winnings? To ask for more money?
***(Achiakos)Well, now that you mention it...
***(Thief)Leave it, for today, at least.
***(Achiakos)Very well. Chaire.
***(Thief)Chaire, Achiakos.
**39:44-39:47
***Goodbye, Achiakos. You've lost your life as well as your winnings.
**42:06
***The Nightjar is dead. But he's not my only target. (New objective: eliminate the remaining thieves)
**45:55
***Bakchos is with Critias when he orders Kass to kill Thrasybulus and leaves with him when she refuses
**48:53
***Bakchos goes to help the other soldiers kill Thrasybulus and Kassandra but is killed by her instead.
*The Informant
**07:05-08:00
***(Nikomedes)We cannot reach him [Critias], but maybe you can get to his head informant. The one they call 'the Viper'.
***(Kassandra)Where do I find this 'Viper'?
***(Niko)She will be at a party at the archon's house this evening. The guests will be wearing masks to hide their identity.
***(Kass)A mask would let me get close to her.
***(Niko)But first you'll need an invitation to get into the party.
***(Kass)I'm not on the guest list?
***(Niko)No, but I know someone who is. Loukianos - one of Critias' lackeys. You can find him in the agora and take his invitation, then get the mask from his house before he returns.
***(Kass)Simple enough.
***(Niko)You'll also need a robe. Pay a visit to Herais, a weaver I have credit with. She'll make one for you.
***(Kass)Very well. This is not the Athens I knew before, Nikomedes.
***(Niko) But it can be again. And this is the first step in getting it back.
**12:20-12:45
***(Kass)You are Herais, the weaver?
***(Herais)I am.
***(Kass)Nicomedes said you could help me with a robe.
***(Herais)I wish I could. Spartan soldiers took over my workshop this morning. My tools are in there, and they won't let me in.
***(Kass)Then perhaps we can help each other?
***(Herais)Perhaps we can. Very well - if you find my tools and bring them to me, I'll make your robe. Agreed?
***(Kass)We have a deal.
**19:07-19:23
***(Kass)I have the tools, as we agreed.
***(Herais)Thank you, misthios. Now for my side of the bargain, I'll start working on the robe straight away and send it over to Nikomedes when I'm done.
**33:18-33:40
***(note)"Loukianos, Enclosed is your invitation to the gathering at Critias' house this evening. Convincing the archon to add your name to the list was not easy but I do it to repay my debt to you. Please do not insist on calling Critias your friend. Such liberties may be the end of both of us. Yours, Charicles."
**39:18-39:44
***(Nikomedes)The Viper is the head of Critias' informants. You'll be able to identify her by an armband she wears, in the shape of-
***(Kassandra)A viper?
***(Ni)Exactly. Now, getting to her won't be easy, but it's our best shot at striking a blow against Critias and the tyrants who run this city. Are you ready?
***(Kass)Don't worry. This isn't my first party... but it will be the Viper's last.
**40:46-41:01
***(Loukianos)As I said, my invitation must have been stolen in the agora. But what of it? It's me, Loukianos! I'm expected!
***(Hoplite)I can't let you in without a pass.
***(Loukianos)This isn't over! Critias and I are friends! He will hear of this, you mark my words!
**43:09-43:49
***(Civ1)Did you hear about Loukianos losing his mask?
***(Civ2)Yes, the pompous fool. It's hardly a surprise, and now he's ruined it for the rest of us.
***(C1)What do you mean?
***(C2)A missing mask could open the door for an assassin. And the Viper is ever on her guard.
***(C1)Ah. That explains why she's not letting people with masks upstairs, then.
***(C2)Exactly. I want to wear my mask, but that means I have to spend time down here with the hoi polloi. No offense.
***(C1)None taken.
***(Kassandra)The Viper knows I'm coming? So much for my disguise. But I have other ways of not being seen.
**48:04-48:40
***(The Viper)I hear you have some information for me.
***(Civ)Yes, I saw a woman.
***(Vi)Hardly noteworthy.
***(Civ)But I think she is the one you were looking for. The friend of Theramenes.
***(Vi)Describe her.
***(Civ)Tall, well-built... a warrior, maybe. She didn't sound like an Athenian.
***(Vi)Anything else?
***(Civ)Yes, she carried a strange bow. It looked like a relic of some sort.
***(Vi)And you saw this where?
***(Civ)Near the house of Loukianos, earlier today.
***(Vi)Well done. If this information comes good, I'll see you're rewarded. [assassinated]
***(Kassandra)She's dead. I need to leave.
*Battle of Munychia
**10:50
***Thrasybulus told me the fort has two commanders, Asterios and Kallias.
**11:50-12:29
***(Hoplite)I heard fom Pelagios. He was at Phyle when Thrasybulus took the fort. He said he had an army of ten thousand strong.
***(Asterios)The same Pelagios who fled Phyle after Thrasybuus gave him a bloody nose? Ha! He would say that!
***(Hoplite)What do you mean?
***(Asterios)He'd say anything to make it seem like retreat wasn't the coward's choice. In truth, Thrasybulus will have no more than a tenth of that.
***(Hoplite)Then when they come here, we might win?
***(Asterios)Might win? We're Spartans! We always win! Mark my words, this time tomorrow, those Athenian rebels will be nothing but food for the crows.
**16:59-17:10
***(Hoplite)How many times must I tell you? Asterios is by the western wall, and Kallias to the east. Don't answer back, just do what I've asked or we'll both be on night duty.
**18:31-18:50
***(Kallias)Why aren't you at your post?
***(Hoplite)I was relieved an hour ago.
***(Kallias)Were you now? I wasn't informed of this.
***(Hoplite)It's true, sir. I would never abandon my post.
***(Kallias)You'd best not. I'll be keeping an eye on you.
***(Hoplite)Understood, sir.
**28:48-30:05
***(Alexis)*Urgh*
***(Thrasybulus)I expected the Spartans to engage us on the field... Not attack us from the flank.
***(Kass)It's not the Spartan way. But then, our enemy does not have a Spartan commander.
***(Thrasybulus)Critias. Of course.
***(Hoplite 2, carrying Alexis)General. We cannot stay here. If we pull back, form a defensive line further inside the fort-
***(Thrasybulus)-then perhaps the last of us will fall at dusk instead of noon. No, we cannot wait.
***(Hoplite 2)General!
***(Thrasybulus)We must strike a deciseive blow now, while there is still time.
***(Alexis, moving to sit down against a crate)It's just a flesh wound.
***(Hoplite 2) Alexis! It's worse than I though.
***(Thrasybulus)Help us, Kassandra! Put pressure on the wound. Press your hand down, it'll help stem the bleeding.
***(Alexis)I got the one that did it. Tell the general. I got him!
***(Hoplite 2)I know you did.
***(Thrasybulus)You did well.
***(Alexis)I'll be all right.
***(Thrasybulus)Here, drink.
***(Alexis)A toast, general. To the health of our good friend Critias!(drinks, spits it out)You should see the one that did this.
***(Hoplite2)And you'll be right next to me when we kill that malaka, eh, Alexis? (alexis dies) Alexis?
***(Thrasybulus)Critias. This all comes down to him.
***(Hop2)We spotted him on a cliff overlooking the battlefield. The climb is impossible, but... [...]
