Elysium and Hades should stay separate. Because you can't travel from Hades to Elysium. Also Wikipedia lists it as {{Wiki|Greek underworld}}, starts off with "In mythology, the '''Greek underworld''' is an otherworld where souls go after death." and a few lines down says; "The underworld itself—sometimes known as '''Hades''', after its [[Hades|patron god]]". Revision as of 04:48, 2 October 2019
Name
This realm, as presented in-game, is called "The Underworld" consistently. As such this article should be renamed "Underworld", or failing that, "Underworld (realm)", in the case we wanted to make "Underworld" a disambiguation page. This being the case if we were to categorise Elysium as part of the Underworld, since according to Greek myth it technically is part of it. However I do not remember if this fact is brought up at all in Odyssey itself. I propose a move as per these. I'd actually be willing to move it right now and correct all links and stuff. — Zero-ELEC (talk) 06:33, July 16, 2019 (UTC)
- There are times wherein the word Hades is specifically used to denote the place; (off the top of my head) for example Aya in AC: Origins mentions "going through Hades" and similar. There is also the fact that when applicable, the real world term is used instead of the in-game variant, for example with the River Thames (in-game referred to only as 'Thames'). - Both Hades and Elysium, together (and with other realms), make up the Greek underworld and as such, I feel that moving this article would confuse matters more than they, apparently, already are. As Sadel has pointed out, Origins refers to the realm specifically as "Hades" and it is referred to as such at least once in Odyssey as well. The article is currently disambiguated clearly, so I see no reason for the article to be moved. --Jasca Ducato (talk | contributions) 08:50, July 16, 2019 (UTC)
- Sadel, I have explained before here that the in-game canonical name comes before the real-life name, and that what Jasca relayed to you before regarding it is incorrect. I am not sure how this article being named "Underworld" would be more confusing than it being named "Hades" since here we have Elysium as part of Hades whereas there we would have Elysium part of the Underworld which would likely be immediately clearer for our audience since Hades is sometimes mistaken to be the Greek hell. All in all, I don't care especially whether this article is named "Underworld" or "Hades" except that the most commonly used name in the game and the primary name which appears in the game should be the one used per policy. That it is mentioned off-hand under the name "Hades" in Origins is actually a moot point because the name as the place actually primarily appears in Odyssey has far greater weight. Of course, not having played the DLC, I cannot verify which ones are used in what context, but from what has been reported to me, the Underworld is never explicitly referred to as "Hades"? Can someone confirm to me if the game depicts Elysium as part of the Underworld or separate from it? As well, if the game depicts Hades as a separate realm instead of the greater realm of which Elysium is a part of? Sol Pacificus(Cyfiero) 18:20, July 18, 2019 (UTC)
- Hi! I'm back to this. One: the Underworld (what this article is about) is only ever referred to as Hades in like one loading tip, to explain that it was sometimes called Hades, I believe? Outside of this it is consistently refered to as Underworld. Two: To answer your question, Cyfiero, Elysium is never really referred to as part of the Underworld (or part of a greater Underworld) in-game, to my recollection. I still maintain that this should be moved to Underworld, given that's the name of the subject as per Odyssey, being one of the Three Sister Realms. Now more than ever, that its been established that the Underworld is a fictionalised representation of an Isu settlement/labour camp, it's imperative that we establish this as what it is. — Zero-ELEC (talk) 04:25, September 24, 2019 (UTC)
