Ímar (Old Norse: Ivarr; died 873) was a Viking leader in Ireland and Scotland in the 9th century. He was the founder of the Uí Ímair dynasty. He ruled as King of Dublin from 857 until 873.
He was the father of Bárid, Sitriuc, and Sichfrith.
Biography
Ímar began raids in Ireland during the 850s, and after enjoying it so much, invited the rest of his family to emigrate from Norway. Ímar was killed in battle in 873 during a siege of Dublin by the Irish.[1]
