Zakros was an ancient Minoan town located in the region of in Pephka, Greece. Occupied by the Minoans in the 2nd millennium BCE, it was later abandoned and destroyed in the 15th century BCE.

History

During the Peloponnesian War, the ruins were overrun by bandits working for the Cult of Kosmos. At the orders of the Cult, the bandits kidnapped Amara, the daughter of Leiandros, a man with an apparently successful enterprise built around the myth of the Minotaur, so as to ensure Leiandros' acquiescence.[1]

Members of the Cult also visited the location, including Melite of the Worshippers of the Bloodline branch of the Cult.[2]

Days after Amara's kidnapping, the ruins were infiltrated by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, while Leiandros distracted the guards. Kassandra explored the place, claiming the bandits' valuables, killing their leader, and freeing their captives, including Amara.[2]
