Yan Leisheng is a Chinese author. Yan is praised for her graphic depictions of violence and hellish scenarios in her novels.
Biography
Early career
Starting from at least 2000, Yan Leisheng has published some of the following short stories; Yuēdìng (Appointment), Měi Yán Piàn (Beauty-like Slice), Māo Mèng Jiē (Cat-Dream Street), Xiāng Chóng (Fragrant Worm), Chūnjì Xīnyá (Spring Sprout), Méiguī Huāyuán (Rose Garden), Yōulíng Dàshà (Ghost Mansion), Wàibù Zújì (Footprint Outside), Shēnjǐng (Deep Well), and others.[1]
In January 2012, Yan wrote a novel adaptation of the then-upcoming television series Xuan Yuan Jian: Tian Zhi Hen based on the popular Taiwanese role-playing games.[2] In April 2013, Yan wrote a standalone novel based on the Xuan Yuan Jian series.[3] He later released two out of three planned volumes of De Huǒ Míng Yí (The Hellfire of Mingyi), an original novel trilogy.[4] In December 2015, Yan published Cat-Dream Street, a collection of 10 of her most popular short stories spanning Yan's 15 year career.[1]
Assassin's Creed
At the 2018 ChinaJoy, Yan was announced to be writing a novel based on Assassin's Creed Chronicles: China, featuring the Chinese Assassin Shao Jun, to be entitled Assassin's Creed: The Ming Storm (known as Cìkè Xìntiáo: Dàmíng Fēngyún in Chinese). Preliminary cover concept artwork was also shown at the event drawn by Xu Chaoyuan.[5] The novel was released on 31 March 2019, with a French language translation following on 1 October 2020.[6]
