The Xiphos of Dionysos was a legendary xiphos which had allegedly belonged to the Greek god of wine Dionysos. The bull's head decorating the crossguard of the sword further enhanced this association.
During the Peloponnesian War, it was in the possession of King Pausanias of Sparta. After outing him as a Sage of the Peloponnesian League branch of the Cult of Kosmos, the Spartan misthios Kassandra assassinated him and claimed the sword for herself.[1][2]
