It is flawed because "claimed for herself" makes it seem like the sword was a big deal to Kassandra. It wasn't, it was just another posession.

The thing is that "obtained [item]" always sounds a bit more like gameplay writing; it's less natural in this context. I disagree that "claimed for oneself" bears that connotation of special significance. As well, why would you change the first line?

Xiphos of Dionysos

The Xiphos of Dionysos was a legendary xiphos which had allegedly belonged to the Greek god of wine Dionysos.

During the Peloponnesian War, it was in the possession of King Pausanias of Sparta. After outing him as a Sage of the Peloponnesian League branch of the Cult of Kosmos, the misthios Kassandra assassinated him and claimed the sword for herself.[1]
