The Xerxes Military Fort, also referred to as the Lokris Fort, was a military fort south of Opous in in Lokris, Greece.
History
During the Peloponnesian War, the fort was infiltrated by the Spartan misthios Kassandra, who proceeded to burn the supplies within the fort and claim the valuables, as well as kill the polemarch and the captains stationed at the fort.[1]
Within the nation chest of the fort, Kassandra found a donation note from Skylax the Fair, the leader of Abantis Islands, and a member of the Peloponnesian League branch of the Cult of Kosmos.[2]
Trivia
- The name of the fort references Xerxes, the Emperor of the Achaemenid Empire of Persia.
