Wynmere Lake

Wynmere Lake is a lake in Lincolnshire, located east of Anecastre.

In the 870s, the lake was used as a staging ground by the allied coalition of the Viking Eivor Varinsdottir and shire nobles Hunwald and Aelfgar as they prepared to lay siege to Anecastre, where the Bishop and Order of the Ancients Herefrith sought shelter in.[1]

Around the same period of time, Eivor also recovered a Roman artifact hidden in a cave near the lake.[2]
