Wang Chengye (王承業) was a Tang general and the Mayor of Taiyuan.
He knew about the existence of the Golden Turtles and wanted to be among them. During the An Lushan Rebellion, he was the internal support of Bian Lingcheng who was inserted in Gao Xianzhi's army.
While Gao Xianzhi was guarding Tongguan, he received a letter from Yan Jiming and Li E, related to Yan Gaoqing started the an incident at Tumen Pass and hoping to get a response from the Gao Xianzhi's troops. Wang Chengye volunteered to go there, Gao Xianzhi ordered him to lead troops to Taiyuan to respond.
