Aslef (died c.872/873) was a Danish Viking who fought under jarl Osbern during the Viking invasion of England in the 9th century.
Biography
Not much was known about Aslef, except he was sworn to jarl Osbern and fought in the Battle of Ashdown. The battle proved to be a Saxon victory as many warriors and their jarls fell in combat. Following Osbern's death in the battle,[1] Aslef joined Geirmund Hjörrsson as a member of the Hel-hides after growing a relationship with him as did other former warriors of Osbern.[2]
After a peace between the Danes and King Alfred,[3] Aslef soon followed the Hel-hides into Lunden after the company followed Guthrum and Halfdan Ragnarsson's army. Death
A day after Geirmund and his five warriors left, Aslef passed away from his injuries with Thorgrim by his side.[4]
