Vesta was a prostitute who lived in Cyrene, Cyrenaica during the 1st century BCE.

Together with Akakios, they had a son named Oidipous, who was shunned by him from birth. Later, Oidipous took up her dead mother's name and killed her clients, including Akakios.[1]

Trivia

  • Vesta shares her name with a Roman goddess of hearth and home, known in Classical Greek as Hestia.
