Verica (fl. 1st century CE) was the king of the Atrebates and a friend to the Roman Empire, seeing it as the future of the Brittonic tribes.[1]

Legacy

Following his death, Verica was entombed in an old vault and his resting place became a place of gathering of Britons until Emperor Nero ordered engineer Manius Calvisius to make access to the tombs difficult, in order to stop the Britons from fomenting rebellion against Rome.[1]

In the late 9th century, Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir traversed his tomb, avoiding the traps and solving the puzzles constructed by Manius, as well as retrieving a strange artifact and Verica's Sickle.[1]
