Ursina was a Byzantine fortune-teller in Constantinople in the 9th century.
Biography
In 867, she became a correspondent between the Order of the Ancients' leader Isaac and their allies in the emperor's palace to assassinate Emperor Basil's son Leo. During their planning, Ursina met with Theodore, Leo's tutor, who was assisting the Order and Emperor Basil in the plot to kill Leo.[1] Anna, Leo's nurse, was suspicious of Theodore, and tried to bribe Isaac with a royal jeweled comb for Leo's life through Ursina.[2] However, the bribe was rejected and as a result, Anna became one of the targets in the attack at the emperor's palace along with Leo.[3]
