Needs a rewrite, but anyway, the game has all the lieutenant's "names" uncapitalized, essentially not names at all, just general nouns 'kill the artist, doctor, etc.'

I wanted to ask you something. Which is... what's your name?
This article title is conjecture. Although the article subject is canon, no official name for it has been given.

―The Painter speaking to a crowd.[src]

An artist (died 1497) served as one of Girolamo Savonarola's nine lieutenants, men who he empowered to control the citizens of Florence during the Bonfire of the Vanities. As with so many others, Savonarola used the Apple of Eden to control him.

Biography

Rise to power

When Savonarola used the Apple of Eden to take control of Florence, he instilled authority into nine men to make sure his will would be enforced. One of his main priorities for the city was undoing the Renaissance, thus the artist was tasked with destroying any art or scripture he could find.[1]

Death

During one of his speeches, the artist walked around the bonfires created by the burning materials. While he was observing the artistic materials turning into ashes, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze managed to catch him by surprise and ended his life. With his dying moments, the artist confessed that his actions were not only the work of the Apple's manipulation, but also because of his own doubt.[2]
