Tudwal Tudglyd (died c. 604) was an early king of Alt Clud, a Brittonic kingdom in North Britain. He was the father of Rhydderch Hael who succeeded him as king.
In Welsh mythology, Tudwal possessed a magical whetstone with the ability to discriminate between cowards and brave men: if a cowardly man used it to sharpen his sword it would not cut through anything, whereas if a brave man used it he was certain to kill any man he drew blood from. The whetstone's design was later replicated on a tablet made from a precursor material, and was later hidden within Deoraby Spar Cavern, Snotinghamscire.[1]
