The Tripods of the Deinomenids were two tripods within the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis, Greece.
History[edit | edit source]
The heavy tripods, each weighing 400 kg, were dedicated to Gelo by his brother Hiero I of Syracuse, after the latter's victory at the Battle of Kume in 474 BCE, in order to recall Gelo's victory at the Battle of Himera in 480 BCE.[1]
During the Peloponnesian War, the site was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[2]
