François-Dominique Toussaint Louverture (20 May 1743 – 7 April 1803), also known as Toussaint Bréda, was the leader of the Haitian Revolution.
Born to slaves from Dahomey, Toussaint was educated by his godfather and Jesuit priests. His knowledge of military tactics and politics caught the attention of the Assassin Eseosa, who recruited him into the Brotherhood.
