Tonnastadir was a Hillfort and settlement in Ledecestrescire within the Kingdom of Mercia, located between the Bardon Lookout and Lyftmere's Pond. Named after and founded by the Viking mercenary Tonna, it served as the home and base of operations for her clan.
In 873, the Vikings Sigurd Styrbjornsson and his step-sister visited the settlement to negotiate with Tonna, who possibly had knowledge of King Burgred's whereabouts.[1] Sometime thereafter, Eivor returned and managed to gain access to the settlement, recovering the Huntsman Helm and a Book of Knowledge within.[2]
Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
Tonnastadir is a location in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. The name is a combination of Tonna's name and the Old Norse word staður, meaning a town, location or site.
