Thutmose III (1481 BCE – 1425 BCE), also known as Thutmosis, Tuthmosis III or Thothmes, was a pharaoh of the Eighteenth Dynasty of ancient Egypt.

During his reign, he conducted 8 military campaigns in 10 years, capturing major cities and creating one of the largest empires Egypt had ever seen.[1] He also commisioned an obelisk, which would occupy a place of prominence outside the temple of Karnak. The hieroglyphs on the obelisk's four sides recounted the tales of some of the Pharaoh's greatest military victories.[2]
