The Farm is the birthplace of Desmond Miles, where he was destined to be trained as an Assassin. It is an Assassin hideout that lies in the desert, an "off-the-grid" compound, with a population of approximately 30 people, much like the city of Masyaf. Assassins who lived there were not allowed to leave the compound, thus Desmond decided to flee the farm to see the outside world.
When the Assassins attempted to liberate Desmond from Abstergo in 2012, Warren Vidic revealed that the Assassin attackers were the last of the group from Desmond's birthplace. When Desmond asked Lucy – another Assassin who was undercover at the Abstergo laboratory where Desmond was being held – about his parents, she said that she didn't know, but that they probably escaped.
