Temple of Demeter

The Temple of Demeter was a small temple located within the ancient polis Gortyn in Minos' Legacy region of Messara, Greece.

The temple was dedicated to Demeter, the goddess of fertile land and agriculture, who was honored for introducing a number of discoveries to the Kretans. During the Peloponnesian War the temple was visited by the Spartan misthios Kassandra.[1]
