The Temple of Apollo was a temple dedicated to the god Apollo on the Greek island of Naxos.
History
The temple's construction began in 530 BCE during the reign of Lygdamis, but despite the island's marble trade, it never got beyond the Portara, the lintel of the temple. The construction was restarted during the Peloponnesian War, when the island was led by Myrrine. The priest Evandros was placed in charge of the construction, but the battles between Naxos and its neighbor, Paros Island, prevented him from getting the funds required to finish the temple.[1]
