The armoured car is a war machine developed by Leonardo da Vinci, useable in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood. A precursor to the modern tank, Leonardo's armored car invention was capable of moving in any direction and was equipped with a large number of weapons. It was designed to intimidate and scatter an opposing army. Da Vinci's vehicle has a number of light cannons arranged on a circular platform with wheels that allow for 360-degree range. The platform is covered by a large protected cover reinforced with metal plates, which are slanted to better deflect enemy fire. There is a sighting turret on top to coordinate the firing of cannons and steering of the vehicle.
In 1503, Leonardo's designs for the tank had been stolen by Cesare Borgia and he tasked Ezio Auditore da Firenze with finding the plans and destroying them. Ezio then traveled to Monte Circeo, south east of Rome. Ezio followed the engineer without being detected, once the engineer entered the factory where the weapons were being produces, Ezio found a secret entrance, found the engineer then interrogated him, the engineer told Ezio of the armoured car design copies and the captured soldiers. Ezio found the design copies, burnt them, then found the three captured Mercenaries. First Ezio killed the patrol Guard, then freed the them, but were ambushed by a group of guards, however Ezio and the Mercenaries easily overpowered the guards and found the armoured car. Ezio used the machine to his advantage, by using it to destroy the factory and stop the weapons being produced. Instead of destroying the armoured car Ezio decided to keep it as a weapon for the Assassin's.
Trivia
- Though the armoured car appears in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, Leonardo was never able to build the war machine, for it had a number of flaws that would prevent it from operating correctly.
