Sweyn Forkbeard (963 – 1014) was the King of Denmark from c. 986 until his death, King of the English for the five weeks leading up to his death, and King of Norway from c. 986 until 995 and again from 1000 until his death.
Biography
Arriving on the shores of England in 1013, Sweyn refused King Æthelred's usual bribes and instead dethroned him, claiming the English crown for himself. His son, Cnut, was heir to his vast empire though did not inherit any of the three kingdom's directly after his father's death.[1]
