Specter on the Rock

The Specter on the Rock was a rock formation northwest of Orchomenos in Boeotia, Greece.

In Greek mythology, the rock was said to be haunted by the spirit of Akteon, a Thebian hero who was devoured by his dogs after witnessing the goddess Artemis bathing naked. Afterwards, an oracle ordered his remains to be buried there, and a statue raised to serve as a sacrificial place.[1]
