The Spartan Shield was a type of light metal shield hailing from Sparta.
In the late 9th century, the Viking shieldmaiden Eivor Varinsdottir of the Raven Clan acquired this shield under old Gravesham bridge near Essexe.[1]

Behind the scenes
The Spartan Shield, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, recycles the model of the Phalangite Shield, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins. Despite both models' names saying the shield comes from a place in southeastern Europe, it does not resemble the aspis, or hoplon—the plain wooden shield decorated with a capital lambda (Λ) that was used by hoplites in the Spartan army—or the smaller Telamon shield used by the phalangites, and instead is very similar in design to the Wandsworth Shield from Celtic England.[2]
