The Souk al-Silaah (English: Market of weapons) was one of the biggest trading points in the city of Damascus, located in the poor district. The market was owned by the trader Tamir, who traded in weapons during the Third Crusade.[1]

The building consisted of five public entrances, where patrons could exchange wares within a number of market halls. These halls enclosed a large courtyard with a fountain in the middle. It was within this courtyard that Tamir met his death at the hands of Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad in 1191.[1]
