Pope Sixtus V (1521 – 1590), born Felice Peretti di Montalto, was Pope from 1585 to his death.
In the mid-16th century, Sixtus wished to make use of the remaining shell of the Roman Colosseum and resolved to convert the structure into a giant wool factory to provide employment for Rome's prostitutes. However, he died before his plan could become reality.[1][2]
