Sikyon was a polis on the northern shore of the Peloponnese between Achaia and Korinthia in Greece.
History[edit | edit source]
In the Greek mythology, Adrastos was regarded as the king of both Sikyon and Argos when Polynikes came to him to ask for help in retaking the city of Thebes in Boeotia from his brother Eteokles. Adrastos granted him an army, led by Polynikes and six others.[1]
Another ruler of Sikyon, Kleisthenes erected the Sikyonian Treasury within the Sanctuary of Delphi in Phokis to celebrate his victory in the First Sacred War.[2]
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Though the area where Sikyon was located appears in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, the city-state itself doesn't.
