The San Marco district was a district of Florence located at the eastern end of the city. It also included some of the northern areas of Florence, and notable landmarks in this district were the Basilica di Santa Croce, the Palazzo Medici, and the Ospedale degli Innocenti. During the 15th century, most of the construction in Florence occurred in this area.
