Runcwuda Abbey

The Runcwuda Abbey was an abbey located along the Afon River in Hamtunscire, England.

In the 870s, the abbey was raided by the Raven Clan led by Eivor Varinsdottir, who looted the monastery of its raw cargo and materials for their settlement of Ravensthorpe.[1]

Trivia

  • The abbey is possibly a reference to the market town of Ringwood, which in Old English is known as Runcwuda.
