A round axe was a type of heavy weapon available during the French Revolution.
History
Before the introduction of the guillotine, the round axe was used to execute nobles. Charles Gabriel Sivert, a French Army general and member of the Parisian Templars, used a round axe as his preferred weapon of choice,[1] though he was not carrying it the night he attacked Grand Master François de la Serre.[2] Sivert's round axe was later claimed by the French Assassin Arno Dorian, who was also a ward of the late François,[3] after he assassinated Sivert at the Notre-Dame.[1]
