Monsieur Ratel (unknown – 1768) was an extortionist active in Louisiana during the 18th century. He intimidated merchants and stole their profits, which caused them to ask higher prices for their products and give less when trading. The Assassin Aveline de Grandpré was informed of this injustice and sought him out. She poisoned one of his guards with a berserk dart, causing the guard to kill Ratel.
