Ramon Muntaner (1265 – 1336) was a Valencian mercenary and captain to the Catalan Company which was employed by the Byzantine Empire to fight encroaching Ottoman Turks. He left an account of this experience in his Cronica.
During the early 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from a book shop in Cappadocia.
