Ramon Muntaner was a Valencian mercenary, who was employed by the Byzantine Empire to fight Ottoman Turks. He left an account of this experience in his Cronica.

During the 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from the book shop in Cappadocia.[1]
