Claudius Ptolemy (c. 100 - 170 CE) was a Greek-Egyptian mathematician, astronomer, geographer, astrologer, and poet. He is best remembered for his Geography, an authorative treatise on the matter.

During the 16th century, the Assassin Ezio Auditore da Firenze bought a copy of this book from one of the several book shops in Constantinople.[1]
