Project Legacy

Project Legacy was an initiative of Abstergo Industries, which was used to analyze the genetic memories of several notable individuals. The scheme could be likened to the company's Animus Project, though it dealt with more generic memories, while the Animus Project was designed for very specific subjects, such as those with an Assassin heritage.[1]

The project made use of the Data Dump Scanner, which was software for the Animus that allowed for a large number of Abstergo agents to analyze the memories of several people, despite not being blood-related to them.[2] These memories were extracted from varying individuals before being placed for review, often through collaboration with the company's Lineage Discovery and Acquisition department.[1]

It was while archiving the project's genetic memories that Isabelle Ardant found the Shroud of Eden in Abstergo's possession and prompted Álvaro Gramática's research into its abilities.[3]

In 2012, the project was placed on hold indefinitely, due to the security concerns caused by Erudito.[1]
