Play Along is a memory in Assassin's Creed II.
Description
After disguising himself as a Guard Courier, Ezio Auditore da Firenze is tasked with delivering the chest that contains the Apple of Eden. Ezio must simply follow the guard leader throughout the city, until finally confronting Rodrigo Borgia. Rodrigo reveals to him that he is the Prophet and duels Ezio. During the battle, the many men and women who assissted Ezio over the years: Mario, Paola, La Volpe, Antonio, Teodora and Bartolomeo come to his aid and help him defeat his adversary. Rodrigo flees before Ezio could finish him, and Niccolo di Machiavelli meets Ezio for the first time, revealing all of them to be members of the Assassin Order. Later that night, they meet on top of a tower for Ezio's initiation ritual. Machiavelli recites a chant, which Ezio completes.
"Where other men are blinded by truth remember: nothing is true. Where other men are bound by morality or law, remember: everything is permitted."
Ezio then receives a burn mark on his left ring finger: the mark of the Assassin. To complete the ritual, he performs a Leap of Faith off the tower.
Outcome
Ezio meets Machiavelli for the first time. The Assassins acquire the Apple, and Ezio officially becomes a member of the Assassin Order.
Trivia
- The burn mark on Ezio's finger is present for the rest of the game. However, strangely, it is missing in Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood, despite Mario's claim that it is permanent.
- The initiation ritual seen in this memory is the same one seen in Assassins Creed: Brotherhood when an apprentice becomes an Assassin.
