Description
A large, yet lightweight phalanx shield, usually paired with a spear or scepter. This one was the property of a high-ranking general.

Behind the scenes

The Phalangite Shield, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, was recycled as the model of the Spartan Shield, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Valhalla. Despite both models' names saying the shield comes from a place in southeastern Europe, it resembles neither the aspis, or hoplon—the plain wooden shield decorated with a capital lambda (Λ) that was used by hoplites in the Spartan army—nor the smaller Telamon shield used by the phalangites, and instead is very similar in design to the Wandsworth Shield from Celtic England.[2]
