Peisistratos (608 BCE – c. 527 BCE) was the tyrant of Athens who reigned between 561 BCE and 527 BCE.

In 550 BCE, the Temple of Zeus Olympian began construction during his reign. However, works to the temple was stopped after the end of tyranny and the rise of democracy.[1]
