The ocelot is a nocturnal wild cat exclusive to Central and South America. Distinguished by yellow fur patterned with dark stripes, it is akin to a jaguar the size of a cat. Even so, certain varieties of ocelots can range up to four feet in length.[1]
During the Golden Age of Piracy, ocelots in the West Indies were hunted for their fur. The pirate Edward Kenway crafted his second pistol holster from ocelot pelts as well as an outfit in conjunction with jaguar pelts.[1]
