Niloxenos was the son of Lagos and his wife Philonoe, who lived in Arkadia, Greece during the 5th century BCE.
Biography
Prior to the Peloponnesian War Lagos found what he termed as "new business partners", but both Philonoe and Niloxenos had a bad feeling about them, referring to them as "scary men." These men set their house under guard, claiming it to be for the family’s safety.[1]
Unbeknownst to them at the time, these new 'business partners' were members of the Cult of Kosmos, and they had targeted Lagos' family in order to get him to do what they wanted, threatening to harm his wife and son unless he obeyed.[2] One member especially, the Sage of the Peloponnesian League, threatened Lagos with torture and death of his family unless he obeyed.[3]
At some point, the men dragged Philonoe and Niloxenos out of the house and into an underground cave and threw them into cages. Days after, the Spartan misthios Kassandra explored the cave, killing the guards within and finding the mother and the son. She freed them, and Philonoe told her what she knew. Kassandra suggested that the two find her friend Brasidas at the farmhouse northeast of Tegea, where Philonoe said that Lagos used to have his 'secret meetings'.[1]
