Nesamun was an Egyptian resident of Sais who served as an assistant to Harkhuf during the reign of Ptolemy XIII.
Biography
In 48 BCE, Harkhuf dispatched Nesamun to deliver a shipment of beer to the village of Yamu to honor Sekhmet in the Festival of Sekhmet. Taking the southern road, Nesamun was captured by a group of soldiers from the Psenemphaia Hideout, who claimed the beer shipment for themselves.[1]
When news reached Harkhuf that the shipment never arrived in Yamu, he asked the passing Medjay Bayek of Siwa to investigate. With the help of Senu, Bayek was able to locate Nesamun and eliminate the soldiers in the hideout. Having freed Nesamun, Bayek urged him to return to Sais and prepare and deliver another shipment to Yamu, this time avoiding the southern road to prevent capture again.[1]
