Mótsognir was an Isu and a the first king of Svartálfaheimr.
Mythology
Attested to in the Prose Edda. Mótsognir was the ruler of the dwarves, known as "mæztr um orðinn dverga allra", "lord of all the dwarves. He is said to be the first dwarf, having crawled out of Ymir's flesh as the jötun died.[1]
Biography
Mótsognir was the first ruler of the dwarves of Svartálfaheimr, said to have appeared from a spring.[2]
Legacy
After the death of Motsognir he was burried within a mound, this mound would become a place of prayer for the citizens of its realm.[3]
The armor of Hreiðmarr used runes named "Mótsognir's clarity", these helped stop the curse put upon the armor.
