The Mushussu was a large, heavy axe-like weapon which was inspired by and named after Mušḫuššu, a creature of Babylonian mythology.
During his hunt for the Order of the Ancients, the Medjay Bayek of Siwa found this weapon while travelling throughout Egypt.[1]

Behind the scenes[edit | edit source]
The model of the Mushussu, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Origins, was recycled as the model of the Ceremonial Axe, a weapon in Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, and its kind. Mushussu's design itself is based on a type of axe called "gazelle-headed axe" from the Mughal Empire in the Indian subcontinent. This makes its appearance in Origins anachronistic.
